Goal Planning Monday – Week 92

Welcome to Goal Planning Monday!

If you are new here be sure to check out the guidelines before you join in. We would love to have you! If you are returning, I hope you had a good week. Thank you for stopping in and sharing with us. Be sure to keep sharing with your friends as we all could use some accountability from time to time! I hope to see some new members this week. Keep spreading the word as we could all use some encouragement and support as we go about achieving our goals. If you have a moment get sure to hop over and see what others are doing.

Last week’s goals (I didn’t do so well. Especially for a simple week!):

Continue to go through the mountain of papers that are occupying my drawers. Partial Done. I’ve gotten rid of some but I would love for my drawers to be for clothes and not papers and I am not quite there yet.

Try to not freak out over tests I have on Thursday. Not Done. I pretty much freaked two days before. Then I decided that I could absolutely stand up for what I wanted and did that at it went very well. My gut is still protesting but the end of (GI) testing is in sight with one final test this week.

Accomplish school on Monday and Tuesday because I doubt much will happen for the rest of the week. Done. We did good and I was able to accomplish some on Wednesday. Liam did some work at a friend’s house on Thursday so all in all we had a productive week.

Cut down my facebook friend’s list. Not Done. I have stopped using it as much, though, and I don’t miss it. I’m think I’ll use it to share photos and give up on most status updates and stuff. Like blogging, my life isn’t that interesting to be posting about!

Work on Khan Academy. Not Done.

Comment on everyone that posts here and check out some other things that are going on on their blogs. Not Done.

This week’s goals:

Empty two drawers of their paper stuff.

Drop my bags of donated items off at the Salvation Army. I decluttered a lot of the weekend and I have four more bags of things to give away. It feels good.

Reschedule certain doctors’ appointments. This week is busy so things have the be juggled around a little.

Try to keep the kiddies healthy. With Hallowe’en and junk food and several of their friends ill, that may be tricky but I would like us to have a MUCH healthier winter this year. My goal is to limit sugar (HA), supplement with vitamin D, and have them eat lots of vitamin C foods.

Prepare my pumpkins for the winter. Puree and chunks. Yum. Yum.

I see pumpkin pie filling in my near future!

Blog. Something. Anything. This week.

Start chemistry with Liam. It has been delayed almost a month now.

Knit two dish cloths.

What are your goals for the week? Be sure to check in and let us know as we all could use some encouragement from time to time!

Goal Planning Monday – Week 91

Welcome to Goal Planning Monday!

If you are new here be sure to check out the guidelines before you join in. We would love to have you! If you are returning, I hope you had a good week. Thank you for stopping in and sharing with us. Be sure to keep sharing with your friends as we all could use some accountability from time to time! I hope to see some new members this week. Keep spreading the word as we could all use some encouragement and support as we go about achieving our goals. If you have a moment get sure to hop over and see what others are doing.

Last week’s goals:

1. Continue decluttering. Done! I’ve gotten rid of a bag and a half of things that are still in good condition for the Salvation Army. I’ve thrown out of bag of things not worth giving away. All our printers are lined up to be given away/recycled. There’s more to go through including the stuff from the storage and a mountain of paper stuff (AGAIN).

2. Tear down wall to storage (yes, we built a fake wall) so that I can get to the children’s winter clothes to see what we have. Not done. Mike ended up having to work yesterday and he’ll be the wall taking down guy (maybe he can do it is such a way that we can put it back up).

3. Keep snacking and remember to drink water. DONE!  No pop. Some extra water. My hot cocoa each afternoon. Some nuts and cheese. Decent eating all week.

4. Write two other blog posts this week. Partially done. I wrote one post that you can find here.

5. Research why the colours in some of my pictures are so washed out. Partially done. I played around with the camera a bit on the weekend but I didn’t actually pull out a manual or anything handy like that!

6. Prepare Goal Planning Monday on Sunday and have it scheduled to post early on Monday. Not done! See me rush this morning while all my children are being moody.

7. Comment on everyone who links up. Done! I think!

This week goals:

Continue to go through the mountain of papers that are occupying my drawers. The hardest part of homeschooling for me is the number of trees we kill on a weekly basis *lol*. The amount of paper we go through it crazy and likely not at all necessary.

Try to not freak out over tests I have on Thursday. I swear I have PTSD from having the same test done by an idiot doctor early this summer so I have to learn to trust and let go. I imagine that being sedated this time will help but that takes a huge amount of trust for me too. It likely won’t be a fun week with the cleansing and fasting before hand. It will be challenging as a nursing mother and my test in not ’til later in the day so chances are my head will NOT feel good by that point (I won’t be allowed to eat/drink at all on the second day). Not looking forward to it at all.

Accomplish school on Monday and Tuesday because I doubt much will happen for the rest of the week.

Cut down my facebook friend’s list. I am contemplating whether or not I want to stay on there or not. Maybe there will be opportunities there but I don’t know. I am not getting a lot from facebook these days.

Work on Khan Academy. Liam made me an account and wants me to catch up to him so I can “teach him better”. Pretty sure I don’t need help (yet) but it would be fun to refresh my memory.

Comment on everyone that posts here and check out some other things that are going on on their blogs.

I’m keeping it simple for this week. So I think that is about it.

What are your plans for the week. Stop in and let us know!

What are your goals for the week? Be sure to check in and let us know as we all could use some encouragement from time to time!

Finding Grace

I’ve been living in fear.

Fear that my body is falling apart and we’ll never find out why.

Fear that I’ve failed my children.

Fear that my children will never be able to function in society because I’ve somehow managed to mess them up.

Fear that neither my partner nor I are getting what we need from our marriage.

Fear that I’ve done nothing in my life.

Fear that no matter how hard I try – and wish – nothing will ever change.

Fear that this is all there is, and then, one day, I’ll just die and that will be all.

Fear that there is no purpose at all to this thing called life.

Fear is exhausting. It is overwhelming. It is consuming. It is eating me from the inside out and leave big voids, empty spaces, nothingness.

~~~~~~
A dear friend of mine sensed this – she knew.
She sent me a gift.
A gift – for me. For healing.
One that I’ve longed for, that I’ve felt drawn towards, that I’ve wanted to hold on my lap, but could never justify buying for myself.
A book. A simple book. But a profound, and life changing book. I haven’t read it all. I’m going slow, and taking it in, but I can feel the promise of something more.
I’ve done it all before. Oprah’s gratitude lists. Friday Fave Fives. Journaling the highights of my day. I’ve even tried to blog my 1000 gifts, a la Ann Voskamp But it has fallen flat. No real meaning behind it. I was doing it just because. Sure, I was thankful, but it didn’t go deeper than that. However, Monday afternoon, I found the book One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are by Ann Voskamp sitting on my lap.
There it was – real, emotional, honest.
That word, grace. The state that alludes me. I’ve spend time lately talking with women about grace. Women that are going through experiences that I can only imagine. They are doing so with grace and strength and purpose. Yet, I struggle and scream and cry for them – and for myself. How do I find grace?
I do not have the eloquent language to describe what I’ve been taught by this book so far but needless to say, I was going about my lists all wrong. Being thankful goes so much deeper than writing a few things from time to time when your feeling good about things. It’s about being thankful in spite of the challenges – because of the challenges. It’s about living thankfulness. Not being thankful, and then forgetting about it and going on about the day feeling resentful and tired and angry and defeated. In the hardest moments, we are given moments of light – blessings – if we are open to seeing them.
I will be open to seeing them. I will keep learning. I will be okay to be, right where I am, happy and complete. It won’t happen today, but with practice and prayer and time, I’ll be able to live more and more of the life that I want to live, being thankful for the moments I am given and accepting whatever comes my way. This is how I, too, will find grace.
Goal Planning Monday – Week 90
Welcome to Goal Planning Monday!
If you are new here be sure to check out the guidelines before you join in. We would love to have you! If you are returning, I hope you had a good week. Thank you for stopping in and sharing with us. Be sure to keep sharing with your friends as we all could use some accountability from time to time! I hope to see some new members this week. Keep spreading the word as we could all use some encouragement and support as we go about achieving our goals. If you have a moment get sure to hop over and see what others are doing.
This week’s goals:
1. Comment on everyone’s post who links up here. Not Done, but I did read everyone’s posts. I need to add you to my reader, I think.
2. Keep on snacking. Done. My weight has remained mostly steady. I’ll have gotten through this month with minimal weight loss.
3. Stay firm with cutting back on the night nursing. Not done. That is way hard but I did say I was going to be most firm with it come the 18th as that is when the Farmer’s Almanac told me it was the best time to wean.
4. Book one Epicure party. Not done. I did try and put my name out there in a few places.
5. Decide whether to keep this blog going or migrate everything back to MamaManuscripts. Done. For now, I am staying here. I like being able to have my own widgets but the issues I had with my photos and things on the self hosted page are not worth the hassle when I am mostly blogging for me and not as a “job”.
This week’s goal.
1. Continue decluttering. There is nothing I love more. I’d like to get rid of two big garbage bags of stuff.
2. Tear down wall to storage (yes, we built a fake wall) so that I can get to the children’s winter clothes to see what we have. I’ll likely have a fair bit to toss just from in there.
3. Keep snacking and remember to drink water. I am getting calories from liquids but they are the healthiest for sure so more snacks and less sugary drinks (though I will enjoy my daily hot cocoa).
4. Write two other blog posts this week. I would love to get back to writing daily but I think that will take some time. Our lives just aren’t that interesting.
5. Research why the colours in some of my pictures are so washed out. I would like to avoid it but I haven’t taken time to research my new gadget as much as I should have.
6. Prepare Goal Planning Monday on Sunday and have it scheduled to post early on Monday.
7. Comment on everyone who links up. Try to be around a couple times a day and catch up then.
What are your goals for the week? Be sure to check in and let us know as we all could use some encouragement from time to time!
Think Back Thursdays – Things in Motion
Today I am joining my friend,  Debbie, for Think Back Thursday. One day I will actually make it to this meme on Thursday but I’m glad that I’m actually getting it done as I meant to last week but somehow time just flew by.
This week’s them is Something or Someone in Motion.
Before we had a good camera. Morgaine was about 2 1/2 and I found her this nightgown for Christmas. She was so thrilled and was spinning and spinning!
Homeschool gym class! Morgaine was a little over three and it was our last fall in our beautiful Vaudreuil home. After a couple years of trying to grow grass from seeds, and ending up with weeds, we laid sod and the kids could final really enjoy the yard without worrying about pricklies. We took full advantage of it until we moved.
Morgaine playing with a sparkler on my birthday. Taken with a slow shutter speed. I love this effect. It is one of my favorite photos and it was a pretty nice birthday, as well.
Playing in the leaves last week. It was a really lovely morning when every felt just about perfect.
Lots of fun looking for photos this week as I actually went back and looked at photos I’d save on Picasa. The kids enjoyed seeing themselves when they were younger and we had a chance to talk about their memories from our old house. Maybe one day I will go back and look at photo albums to scan pictures for even older memories and stories to share!
I hope that you will join us at Think Back Thursday and share some of your photo memories, too!
Goal Planning Monday – Week 89
Welcome to Goal Planning Monday!
If you are new here be sure to check out the guidelines before you join in. We would love to have you! If you are returning, I hope you had a good week. Thank you for stopping in and sharing with us. Be sure to keep sharing with your friends as we all could use some accountability from time to time! I hope to see some new members this week. Keep spreading the word as we could all use some encouragement and support as we go about achieving our goals. If you have a moment get sure to hop over and see what others are doing.
I don’t think we have any Canadian participants right now but if there are, HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I was thrilled to see someone new link up last week. Thank you and I look forward to keeping in touch and seeing what you get accomplished each week! Keep on sharing so that we can have more and more support to get our things accomplished!
Last week’s goal:
1. Get my kitchen back in tiptop shape. DONE! However, I did the whole Thanksgiving meal yesterday and I think I used every pan in the house so there is some more work to be done today!
2. Take a peak at the Epicure Selections website and start planning out where I want to go with that. DONE! I’m excited about it. I hope to do more sponsoring than sales, I think, but we shall see where it all leads. My starting kit arrived early last week and I am thrilled with the products I received.
3. Take an exam for Vintage Remedies. Not done. May be say this is something that doesn’t get completed. I don’t know. I have very much lost the motivation for it. It was not quite as I expected it to be.
4. Donate some stuff. DONE! Only one garbage bag last week but I am still working on it.
5. Eat snacks. Partially done. Not a whole lot of motivation here either. Lots of broths and things like that.
6. Drink water. DONE! Mostly in the form of broth.
7. Walk into town at least 3 times this week. Not done. I only walked into town once this week (I think….may have been twice now that I think of it, but cannot recall for sure).
8. Comment on everyone’s blog who signs up this week. Not done. I need to make this a top priority this week.
9. Finish reading my book. Not done. I’ve decided that Robin Cook no longer appeals to me. I wasn’t motivated to read in the hospital because everything got a little messed up with my testing and I ended up not getting the test done the way they were ordered (good thing, in one sense, but in the other, the didn’t get the quality of images that they were going for). I did choose a new book between appointments and I hope to get that one done this week!
This week’s goals:
1. Comment on everyone’s post who links up here.
2. Keep on snacking.
3. Stay firm with cutting back on the night nursing.
4. Book one Epicure party.
5. Decide whether to keep this blog going or migrate everything back to MamaManuscripts. This blog wasn’t used as I hoped it would be and I had more of a following over on my other one. There were things I didn’t like about the self hosted site so I have to go see if the updates I made last week fixed them or not.
What are your goals this week. I hope that you will link up!
Goal Planning Monday – Week 88
Welcome to Goal Planning Monday!
If you are new here be sure to check out the guidelines before you join in. We would love to have you! If you are returning, I hope you had a good week. Thank you for stopping in and sharing with us. Be sure to keep sharing with your friends as we all could use some accountability from time to time! I hope to see some new members this week. Keep spreading the word as we could all use some encouragement and support as we go about achieving our goals. If you have a moment get sure to hop over and see what others are doing.
I am sorry that I never made it here to set up a post last week. Time kind of got away from me and the inlaws were in town visiting. I know that you all like that I am here to post so I am back.
Last week’s goal:
1. Spend time with the children and work on our relationships. DONE! I hung out with the kids a fair bit over the last couple of weeks. It still needs work. I likely need to hold my tongue a bit more.
This week’s goals:
1. Get my kitchen back in tiptop shape.
2. Take a peak at the Epicure Selections website and start planning out where I want to go with that. I’ve just become a consultant again and while I likely won’t get rich doing it, I hope it will be fun to have parties from time to time. There website for consultants is quite different now (I was a consultant 4 years ago) so I want to take a peak at it a bit.
3. Take an exam for Vintage Remedies. It is highly unlikely that I will continue but I definitely want to be finished the course that I started by the end of October.
4. Donate some stuff. I’m not sure what but I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the amount of stuff in my house.
5. Eat snacks. Big meals are not easy, so I need to graze even more.
6. Drink water. Lots of water.
7. Walk into town at least 3 times this week. I’ve been spending a lot of time at home lately and I’d like the exercise and to see some people.
8. Comment on everyone’s blog who signs up this week. This will never grow if I don’t take care of it more!
9. Finish reading my book. I’m reading a Robin Cook and I haven’t in quite a long time (he was my favorite as a teen). I’ll be sitting around a bit in the hospital for tests this week (I react poorly to contrasts and dyes and while I am allowed to leave the hospital in between tests I’m taking books in case I’m not allowed to in the end.
What are your goals this week. I hope that you will link up!
