Today

Today, my family attended a vigil.

Today, I had to explain to my children that we were celebrating the life of a person who had died.

Today, I had to explain that he was killed.

Today, I had to explain that he was killed because of who he loved.

Today, I had to explain that he was killed because he was gay.

Tomorrow, I hope that the world will no longer feel the need to taunt, tease, beat or kill people because of who they LOVE.
